Why you can’t evaluate a locksmith only by how many locks he promises to open

The client's name has been changed.

Let's call the client Konstantin. He was choosing a specialist and saw an advertisement:

“We open 100% of locks.”

Sounds confident. But Konstantin was interested in something else:

“Does the master know how to preserve the door and understand what to repair later?”

And this is a more useful question. In the source materials, the criteria for professional work are experience with different types of locks, quality of work, reviews and guarantee.

Why is the "any lock" promise too general?

There are:

  • mechanical;
  • levelers;
  • disk;
  • automobile;
  • electronic;
  • safe systems.

Each specialist may have his own specialization.

What is more important than an advertising phrase

Useful to know:

  • did the master work with such a system;
  • how to assess the risk of damage;
  • can further repairs be explained;
  • does it provide a guarantee for the work performed?

Why a good specialist sometimes says “not my specialty”

This is not weakness. This is a normal professional boundary. It is better to abandon an unfamiliar system than to experiment at the client's site.

The number of declared capabilities does not always equal the quality of a particular job.
