Why it is important to check the lock after an emergency opening, even if it works again

Let's call the client Oscar. His lock once completely jammed. After access was restored, the mechanism began to open again. Oscar decided:
“Since it works now, the problem has disappeared.”
But the reason for the refusal could remain.
Why does a lock rarely jam for no reason?
Possible:
- wear;
- key damage;
- door skew;
- cylinder malfunction;
- internal breakdown;
- increased load on the mechanism.
If only the consequence is eliminated, the problem may recur.
Things to check after opening
The master can evaluate:
- work with the door open;
- work with the door closed;
- movement of crossbars;
- cylinder condition;
- key;
- position of the mate.
Do I need to change the lock right away?
No. Sometimes it's enough:
- adjustments;
- services;
- cylinder replacement;
- replacing a damaged key.
But the client must understand the reason for what happened.
Why is this especially important after a jam?
If a mechanism has already completely failed once, it cannot automatically be considered impossible to repeat. Especially if there were symptoms before: *crunch;
- hard turn;
- several attempts to open;
- the need to press the door.
Good result of an emergency call
Not just: door is open. A: the door is open + the reason is determined + the client understands what to do next.
