The client's name has been changed.

Let's call the client Sergei. He left the key inside the car and called a mechanic. After arriving, the specialist first asked to confirm Sergei’s attitude towards the car.

The reaction was:

“I’m standing next to the car and I know that the key is inside. Why check anything else?

Because it's not enough.

Why the car cannot be unlocked with one call

Let's imagine a different situation. Person:

  • knows where the car is parked;
  • knows the model;
  • may even know some details about the owner.

This does not yet give him the right to gain access inside. Therefore, checking access rights primarily protects car owners.

What if the documents are inside the car?

This happens regularly. In this case, the method of verification may depend on the circumstances. It is better to immediately inform the master:

“The documents are in the cabin.”

The specialist will explain what confirmation options are possible.

Why the old article cannot be transferred literally

The original text was written for another country and refers to a specific local document. For Estonia, such requirements cannot simply be copied. Correct universal formulation: it is necessary to ensure that the client has a legal right to access the vehicle.

Why a master’s refusal is sometimes a good sign

If the circumstances raise serious doubts and the person cannot confirm the right of access, the professional may refuse to perform the work. This is not bad service.

This is a normal safety boundary.

An emergency car unlock should help the owner regain access, not create a tool to gain access to someone else's car.
