Let's call the client Mark. He got out of the car, leaving the engine running. A few seconds later the car locked. This case illustrates why it is useful to have a plan in case you lose access.
The main rule is not to leave the only key inside
If you leave the car, even for a short time, it is better to keep the key with you. Especially if:
- engine is running;
- the car has automatic locking;
- oddities of the central lock have already been observed previously.
A spare key is really useful
But it's better to store it:
- at home;
- from a trusted person;
- in another safe place.
There is no need to keep the second key inside the same car at all times.
Why the old advice “leave the window open” is not the best
It solves one problem, but creates others:
- precipitation;
- access to the salon;
- risk of theft.
It is safer to change your key handling habit.
If the machine locks itself regularly
This is already a reason to check the central locking system or electronics.
The emergency wizard helps restore access. But it’s even better to eliminate the cause of the repeated blocking.
