The apartment door won’t open - why you shouldn’t immediately switch to forceful methods

The client's name has been changed.

Let's call the client Arthur. The key was lost, and one friend suggested:

"Let's just break down the door."

At first glance it seems that this is faster. But the consequences can be much more expensive than the emergency opening itself.

Why force is a last resort

Destructive effects can damage:

  • door leaf;
  • box;
  • finishing;
  • lock;
  • fittings.

Once access is restored, the entire door will have to be repaired.

Why diagnostics are carried out first

Need to understand:

  • the door is slammed or locked;
  • how many locks are closed;
  • are the mechanisms working properly?
  • what type of structure is installed.

Sometimes the task is much simpler than the owner thinks.

When destructive intervention may still be necessary

If:

  • the mechanism is seriously damaged;
  • internal breakdown occurred;
  • there is an urgent threat;
  • a more gentle option is technically impossible.

But the decision must be made consciously.

Why we removed the original instructions

The original article detailed methods for destroying the door and lock. For Luku-Abi customer material this is excessive and may encourage unnecessary damage.

The fastest physical way is not always the smartest. Good work will minimize overall damage, not just time to opening.
