The client's name has been changed.
Let's call the client Elena. The door stopped opening, and she began calling the technicians. One replied:
“From 30 euros.”
Other:
“We’ll sort it out on the spot.”
Elena rightly asked:
“How to make sure that after arrival the price does not suddenly increase several times?”
The more information before departure, the more accurate the estimate
Useful to send:
- photo of the door;
- photo of the lock;
- photo of the key;
- description of the symptom.
For example:
"The key goes in but won't turn"
much more informative than:
"The door is broken."
Why the exact price sometimes cannot be announced in advance
The cost depends on:
- type of mechanism;
- nature of the breakdown;
- door condition;
- urgency;
- the need for additional work.
So an honest estimate can be a range rather than a single number.
What you should check before arrival
Ask:
- how much does departure cost;
- is the work included in the stated price;
- what may increase the cost;
- approximately how much a possible replacement of a part costs.
Why photos are especially useful
It helps you understand in advance what type of lock you will be working with.
A transparent price starts with a normal diagnosis before departure, and not with an advertising figure “from...”.
