Let's call the client Thomas. The door was automatically locked after closing, so the key was practically not used to leave the apartment. One day the lock was assembled incorrectly after repair.
But no one noticed this right away: the door simply slammed shut as usual. The problem was discovered after it became impossible to get back.
What is the point of checking after repair
Any intervention in the lock must be completed with a full test. Not just:
“The door slammed, that means everything is working.”
A:
- key opens;
- key closes;
- latch works;
- pen is returned;
- the system behaves equally predictably.
Why automatic latch can hide a fault
She is able to create the impression that the lock is working. The door is closed and holding. But this does not yet prove that the main mechanism is working.
Especially important after self-disassembly
Before closing the door, you need to check the mechanism with the door open. If something is not working correctly, the door remains available for correction.
Do you always need to lock your apartment with the key?
It depends on the design. But if a primary lock is provided, it is helpful for the owner to understand whether it is actually functioning properly rather than relying solely on the latch.
