The client's name has been changed.
Let's call the client Ekaterina. After installing the new cylinder, she was given several keys. She didn't think anything of it. Later a simple question arose:
“How many keys were there in the factory set?”
This is a normal question when working with an access system.
Why the number of keys is important
After replacement, the task is often to restore access control. Therefore, the owner must understand:
- how many keys I received;
- who uses them;
- what additional copies will be made.
Why is this especially important after losing your old key?
If a person changes a cylinder because the old access is no longer controlled, the new system must start with a clear key history. Otherwise, the meaning of the update is partially lost.
What is wise to do right away
After installation:
- recalculate the set;
- distribute keys;
- write down who they were given to;
- save system data if provided by the manufacturer.
For the office, the approach is even more important
If the keys are received:
- employees;
- cleaning;
- contractors;
- tenants,
It's better to keep simple records.
How does this relate to professional installation
The replacement source material ends the process by not only installing it, but by testing and explaining to the customer how to use the new lock. Control of a new set of keys is logically part of this stage.
