The client's name has been changed.

Let's call the client Anton. In the morning, the car door suddenly stopped opening. The key fob reacted unstably, and the mechanical key also did not give the usual result.

There was a desire:

“The main thing is to open it now, and then we’ll figure it out.”

But the nature of the malfunction determines what needs to be done next.

What reasons are there?

For example:

  • the key fob battery is dead;
  • alarm system is faulty;
  • the mechanical cylinder is dirty or worn;
  • the door or mechanism has been exposed to frost;
  • the keys were left inside;
  • There is an internal mechanical fault.

Why one symptom does not indicate one cause

Phrase:

"The door won't open"

may mean completely different technical situations. Therefore it is useful to check:

  • what does the keychain do;
  • is the other door working;
  • does the central locking react?
  • what happens to the mechanical key.

Without using excessive force.

Why an old mechanical cylinder often becomes a problem

If the car was opened only remotely for many years, almost no one used a mechanical lock. Then in the first real emergency scenario it turns out that: *works hard.

  • polluted;
  • corroded;

Do I need to service the mechanism after opening?

If a real malfunction is detected, yes, it makes sense to solve it so as not to repeat the emergency scenario.

“The car won’t open” is a symptom. Quality work begins with determining which part of the access system has failed.
