Let's call the client Robert. He chose a metal door and paid almost all of his attention to the thickness of the steel. But a good door is not just about the amount of metal.
It is important how the door is assembled
Please note:
- structural rigidity;
- quality of welding and assembly;
- box;
- loops;
- position of locks;
- fittings.
Why hinges matter in a lock
If a heavy door sags over time, its position relative to the frame changes. After this, the owner begins to complain:
“The lock has become difficult to close.”
Although the original reason is in the door itself.
More metal doesn't always mean better
Very heavy construction:
- puts more stress on the loops;
- requires high-quality installation;
- does not compensate for a weak locking system.
The main thing is competent design, not maximum weight.
What to check at locks
Useful to evaluate:
- manufacturer;
- quality of the mechanism;
- serviceability;
- external protective fittings;
- possibility to replace the cylinder separately.
Why it is better to evaluate the entire door
A poor combination of even high-quality parts can result in an inconvenient and quickly wearing system.
