The client's name has been changed.
Let's call the client Vladimir. The old cylinder was starting to seize and he wanted to replace it himself. On some standard doors this is actually a relatively simple service operation.
But there are a few things to check in advance.
Need the right size first
It is not enough to know only the total length. What matters is the length of both sides relative to the center.
The new cylinder must match the fittings
After installation it should not:
- perform excessively;
- drown deeply;
- interfere with the operation of the pad.
You only need to check when the door is open
This is one of the main rules after any independent replacement. First check several times:
- turn the key;
- full movement of the mechanism;
- extracting the key.
And only after stable operation, test the closed door.
When is it better not to do the replacement yourself?
For example, if:
- the lock is already jammed;
- fastenings are damaged;
- the cylinder is not removed normally;
- the door is skewed;
- complex protective fittings installed.
Why don't we repeat step-by-step technical manipulations from the source code
For the owner, the criteria for the correct result are more important than detailed instructions for dismantling the locking unit.
