Choix de la poignée

The door handle is one of the most visible door details — it affects both the appearance of the door and ease of use. Here is everything you need to know.

1. Handle Types

  • Lever handle — the most common, most ergonomic. Suits most doors.
  • Knob — round rotating knob. Common in older buildings, less ergonomic.
  • Pull handle — used mainly on pull doors (glass doors, large doors).
  • Smart lock handle — with integrated electronic lock, opened by fingerprint or code.

3. Lock Standard — What Are BB, PZ, WC?

Door handles are compatible with certain lock types — check before buying!

  • BB (blind/bathroom) — button inside, cannot be opened from outside. Suitable for WC and bathroom.
  • PZ (Profile Cylinder) — used with cylinder locks. Exterior door, apartment door.
  • WC — specifically for toilet rooms, allows locking from inside.
  • KL (Key Lock) — key on both sides. Used on exterior doors.

4. Dimensions — What Are Backset and PZ Distance?

  • Backset — distance from the front face of the lock to the lock spindle centre. Standards: 35 mm, 50 mm, 65 mm.
  • PZ distance — distance from the handle spindle to the cylinder spindle. Standards: 72 mm and 92 mm.

Measure both dimensions on your existing lock before buying.

5. Finish — Colour and Coating

Most popular finishes: polished chrome (most common), matt chrome (modern), matt black (trendy), gold (classic). We recommend choosing a finish that matches the door hinges.

Quick Buying Checklist

  • ✅ Check door thickness (standard 35–45 mm)
  • ✅ Measure backset and PZ distance
  • ✅ Choose material: for exterior doors — stainless steel
  • ✅ Check lock type: BB / PZ / WC / KL
  • ✅ Make sure finish matches the hinges
